Podcasts

Maybe not your typical therapist recommendation, but if postpartum life is bogging you down, this podcast provides an honest, and sometimes comical glimpse into this phase and might help you feel a little less alone like it did for me.

Websites

Postpartum Support International

An incredible resource (home of the recommended reads from above). This organization offers hundreds of support groups, perinatal mental health education, crisis resources, etc. It’s impossible to list everything it covers, but such an important support.

Dr. Kiley Hanish

Dr. Hanish has conducted new and necessary research on the specific experience of Autistic mothers. She has also compiled other research along with her own about the sensory experiences of pregnancy and birth. Her website has a lot of great resources on this topic.

Flow of Life Yoga

Local to Asheville, Flow of Life offers pre and postnatal yoga classes as well as birth education.

Babies Need Bottoms

Local to Asheville, this is a diaper bank serving families in WNC. Their community partners program helps distribute diapers across the region.

Social Media

Dr. Emily Oster

If you find yourself anxious about parsing through all of the “recommendations”, “research”, or “suggestions” surrounding pregnancy and postpartum, this IG account is a helpful resource. Emily hosts a Q/A every Tuesday on her stories that offers straightforward translations of data to help you make more informed and grounded decisions. But more importantly, it’s popularity is proof of just how many other women are in the same boat!

Ryann Kippling, MPH, RDN

If food aversions/anxiety are part of your pregnancy journey, Ryann offers evidence-based prenatal nutrition information in a helpful, non-fear mongering way.
